Teaching Well Using Technology with Shaun Longstreet, Ph.D.
Educational technology needs to be about effectiveness and efficiency, not entertainment. Productive researchers are efficient and effective teachers because being effective and efficient teachers allows for more research and writing time. Introducing the right technology into your curriculum can lead to better use of class time for both you and your students.
This workshop is for anyone looking to capitalize on teaching strategies recommended by 'best practices' research while using the technological resources at UCI and elsewhere. Thinking about where and when teaching and learning occurs, participants can develop sustainable pedagogical innovations relevant to their own discipline-specific context. This workshop offers practical suggestions for someone looking to 'tune-up' a syllabus and thinking of introducing technology. Participants are welcome to bring a syllabus, or ideas for a course they intend to teach.
