Podcasting: Thinking Beyond Recorded Lectures
If they have difficulty following a fifty-minute lecture in person, can we reasonably expect students to do so on a treadmill at the gym? Perhaps, but recorded lectures are not the only uses for podcasting.
Participants will have an opportunity to observe examples of a variety of uses of podcasting in teaching beyond recorded lectures (e.g walkthroughs, reading guides, project feedback, introductions). The workshop is not a training session for specific technologies, but rather emphasizes pedagogical strategies for using podcasts as a way to provide quick, just-in-time information to a group or groups of students. This workshop is for anyone looking to capitalize on teaching strategies recommended by 'best practices' research while using the technological resources at UCI and elsewhere.
3:00-4:30 pm Monday, April 21st
Anteater Instruction & Research Building, Room 1030
Note: this workshop can count towards the TLTC's new Teaching Well Using Technology Certificate. Contact Shaun Longstreet for more details. (clongstr@uci.edu)
